Diving is all about timing oneself. Divers, therefore, need some way of keeping track of their timing as they dive. They can’t watch the clock on the wall use a typical watch due to the great depths covered. This is the reason why they use dive watches which are also known as diving watches. First of all, a diver watch is able to go deep under water. It can therefore withstand lots of pressure. The diving watches have easy to read dials that enable the diver to figure out how much time they have remaining for their dive. Instead of having the typical push/pull crown that most watches have, the dive watches have a screw down crown, which gives it more of a water tight seal. The band of the dive watches is made of rubber or similar material so that salt water will not cause it to deteriorate.

Diving watches vary in how deep they can go under the water. Most will go from a 100 meters to 300 meters while some specialty watches even go more than 500 meters. The depth that you look for will depend on what type of diving you intend to do. If you plan to do normal diving in the pool, then 100meters may be sufficient.  However, if you plan to do some scuba diving you will want to find a watch that will go 200meters.

One also needs to pay attention to the bezel. Divers have to be able to see how much time they have been under the water, so the diving watches must have a unidirectional elapsed timing bezel. Having a watch with a clear dial face is also important. It allows you to quickly glance at the face of the watch and see your time. If you can’t quickly look at your time, you may overstay at the bottom. You will want to pay attention to the durability of the dive watches as well as the accuracy.
